FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (SEPTEMBER 10, 2020)

ICAN APPLAUDS STATE DEPARTMENT OFFICE OF THE
SPECIAL ENVOY FOR HOLOCAUST ISSUES FOR STATEMENT
ON GENOCIDE AND RESISTANCE RESEARCH CENTRE OF LITHUANIA

The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (ICAN) applauds the September 4, 2020, statement released by the United States State Department Office of the Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues on Twitter and included here in full:

“Lithuania’s history is full of proud moments that have led to the flourishing democratic nation it is today. Yet no country’s history is without dark moments; these events must be studied, analyzed, and presented without bias. It is imperative for institutions such as the Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania to be apolitical and willing to examine history without preconceived notions. Overlooking or downplaying events of the Holocaust creates divisions and tarnishes Lithuania’s reputation. The objective analysis of history honors Lithuania’s democracy.”

ICAN is dedicated to highlighting the on-going state-sponsored campaign of Holocaust distortion in Lithuania and as such fully endorses the above statement and is committed to supporting the vital work of the Office of the Special Envoy for Holocaust Issues and ensuring its future success.
