[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”569802″]The Israeli-American Civic Action Network (“ICAN”) strongly condemns the recent targeted shootings of Jewish men in the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles and calls on Mayor Karen Bass to take stronger action against antisemitism following news that the suspect, Jamie Tran, has been charged with Federal hate crimes.

According to police reports, Tran admitted to investigators that he shot the victims after looking up “kosher markets” on Yelp and deciding to shoot someone in the area. The police also allege that he has a history of antisemitism and threatening messages to a Jewish classmate at a dental school.

The two men were shot on consecutive days while leaving synagogues, leading the police to pursue the investigation as a hate crime. Both victims are expected to survive, but ICAN is deeply troubled by this act of violence and hatred toward members of the Jewish community.

ICAN CEO Dillon Hosier, stated: “We thank the LAPD, FBI, and supporting agencies for taking quick action and bringing the suspect to justice. We must not stand idly by while our community is attacked for our faith and identity. We urge Mayor Bass to take action and fully implement the combating antisemitism resolution passed by the City Council last November as a tool to stop the rising tide of hate targeting the Jewish community.”

ICAN calls upon all residents of Los Angeles and beyond to stand together against hatred and bigotry in all its forms. We must work together as one people united against those who seek to divide us through violence or intolerance. Together we can create a more peaceful world where everyone feels safe regardless of their faith or ethnicity.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”140603″]The Israeli-American Civic Action Network is dedicated to empowering Israeli immigrants and American allies to create change for a better America, a more secure Israel, and a stronger U.S. – Israel alliance through advocacy education and civic action.
