Statement on the Hamas Terrorist Attack in Tel Aviv

March 09, 2023

The Israeli-American Civic Action Network is alarmed and angered by the terrorist attack that occurred in Tel Aviv today. According to reports, Mutaz Salah al-Khawaja, a member of the Hamas terrorist organization, opened fire targeting innocent civilians on Dizengoff Street. Local authorities report that two police officers — including one off duty — and two citizens — including a reserve IDF officer — shot and neutralized the attacker not long after the shooting. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives or were injured in this violent act of terrorism.

As an organization dedicated to promoting the well-being of both Israel and the United States, we condemn this cowardly attack in the strongest possible terms. Terrorism has no place in any civilized society, and we stand with the people of Israel in their fight against those who seek to harm innocent civilians. We call upon the United States and the international community to work together to prevent future acts of terror and to hold all those responsible for this heinous attack accountable for their actions.

We also express our gratitude to the IDF reservists, Israeli police, first responders, and medical personnel who quickly arrived on the scene to assist the victims and their families. May their bravery and dedication serve as an inspiration to us all.
