Biden The White House 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. Washington, DC 20500 Dear Mr. President, I am writing to express serious concern about your administration’s intentions to reenter the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, also known as the Iran nuclear deal or Iran deal. I am concerned that providing any kind of sanctions relief will only incentivize and encourage Iran to continue its destabilizing behavior and further compromise international peace and security in the Middle East. In particular, the potential unfreezing of billions of dollars has the potential to further fund Iran’s international terrorist activities around the world and threatens our Gulf Arab allies and Israel. An especially troubling development that has been reported is the refusal of Iran to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to continue its safeguard inspections of Iran’s past unexplained nuclear activity. Without cooperation and clarity about this unexplained nuclear activity any return to a deal would only enable and empower Iran to achieve nuclear weapons capabilities. As such, restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program must be extended until the regime demonstrates that it has no interest or intention to continue pursuing a nuclear weapons program. The United States and our allies must also ensure that Iran cannot develop nuclear-capable ballistic missiles. In recent years, Iran has ignored and blatantly defied the international community and has continued its research and development programs associated with nuclear weapons delivery systems. Finally, rather than pursue a bad deal with Iran, I urge your administration to restart the “maximum pressure” campaign. This approach is a more effective means of ensuring that the Iranian regime will cease the development of a nuclear weapons program and other activities that threaten international peace and security. Any maximum pressure campaign pursued by the administration should include efforts to deepen and expand the Abraham Accords between Israel it’s Gulf Arab neighbors. Thank you for your time and consideration. Signed, Support this Cause PrevNext
